First Patient Randomized in Mabgeek Biotech’s Global Multicenter Phase III Trial of Comekibart (MG-K10) for Atopic Dermatitis

 

Recently, comekibart, a long-acting humanized monoclonal antibody targeting IL-4Rα independently developed by Mabgeek Biotech, achieved an important clinical milestone: the first patient has been successfully enrolled in the United States in its global multicenter Phase III clinical trial (MRCT) for the treatment of moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis in adolescents and adults.

The successful enrollment of the first patient in the United States marks the formal initiation of this global multicenter Phase III trial centered on the United States and Europe. It represents an important milestone in the global clinical development of comekibart following the acceptance of its Biologics License Application for atopic dermatitis in China, as well as another major achievement in Mabgeek Biotech’s global simultaneous development strategy.

Comekibart is an innovative, long-acting humanized monoclonal antibody targeting IL-4Rα independently developed by Mabgeek Biotech. By simultaneously blocking IL-4- and IL-13-mediated signaling, it regulates type 2 inflammatory responses. The drug is being developed for the treatment of multiple type 2 inflammatory diseases, including atopic dermatitis, seasonal allergic rhinitis, asthma, prurigo nodularis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic spontaneous urticaria, chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps, and eosinophilic esophagitis.

Benefiting from its long-acting pharmacokinetic profile, comekibart can be administered once every four weeks, reducing dosing frequency, easing the burden of long-term treatment, and improving patient adherence. It has the potential to become the world’s first long-acting anti-IL-4Rα monoclonal antibody and may offer best-in-class potential.

The enrollment of the first patient in the United States lays an important foundation for the subsequent global clinical development and regulatory submissions of comekibart.
